Welcome to the first installment of our series….We hope you will find it interesting and informative.
Most of us began the same way—with an interest in creating a painting. Most of us also felt we did not know how to do this. This required some work finding information and supplies and someone to teach the ‘how to’. In a lot of cases, there were no available teachers and the only information came from magazines or books and/or on our own. Supplies were also a problem—sometimes we lived far away from shops or teachers who sold them.
When we began we also did not know exactly what we wanted to paint but wanted to paint anyway…anything. Surfaces meant little to us and our knowledge of paint was limited to the wall variety. Brushes were also limited to those used for our teeth or the walls.
Then along came DAIC—you know, the online web and non-profit group that keeps us all informed and shows us pictures of what others are painting as well as allowing us to discuss painting related subjects. DAIC has also provided us with online classes, the DTC programme, contests and prizes and the knowledge that we can communicate, share and have many friends with the same interests.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced painter, be sure to take advantage of this new program. To find the questions and answers that kick off this new program and to get more information, DAIC members can visit the Yahoo Group Decorative Artists In Canada.
